چکیده

We present a Modulated Gradient Spin Echo pulse sequence that enables diffusion measurements with chemical shift resolution in the obtained spectra at higher modulation frequencies (1600 Hz) than previously obtained. The modulation is generated using a CarrPurcell-Meiboom-Gill train of radiofrequency pulses in a constant gradient. To avoid distortions from eddy currents, a longitudinal eddy current delay was added between gradient modulation and spectrum acquisition. To suppress the effects from gradient-slicing and unwanted coherences, while maintaining high chemical shift resolution, short samples (height of 0.5 mm) were prepared in a 5 mm ShigemiTM tube. The pulse sequence was successfully tested on a sample of distilled water and a sample of a water-continuous microemulsion (Winsor’s type I).

Magnetic Resonance Spectral Characterization of Diffusion with Chemical Shift Resolution

We present a modulated gradient spin-echo method (MGSE), which uses a train of sinusoidally shaped gradient pulses separated by 180-degree RF pulses. The RF pulses efficiently refocus chemical shifts and de-phasing due to susceptibility differences, resulting in undistorted, high-resolution diffusion weighted spectra. This allows for simultaneous spectral characterization of diffusion of severa...

GRASE (gradient- and spin-echo) MR of the brain.

PURPOSE To assess the clinical utility of GRASE (gradient- and spin-echo) MR imaging of the brain by comparing it with the T2-weighted turbo spin-echo technique. METHODS Fifty-three consecutive patients referred for MR imaging of the brain were studied with T2-weighted turbo spin-echo and GRASE techniques, matched for effective echo time (110 milliseconds), echo train length (eight), and spat...

Spectral characterization of diffusion in porous media by the modulated gradient spin echo with CPMG sequence.

Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill train of radiofrequency pulses applied to spins in the constant magnetic field gradient is an efficient variant of the modulated magnetic field gradient spin echo method, which provides information about molecular diffusion in the frequency-domain instead in the time-domain as with the two-pulse gradient spin echo. The frequency range of novel technique is broad enough...

Time dependent diffusion studies in partially filled porous glasses using the MAGROFI technique

1. Introduction The most popular principle of diffusion measurements by NMR is the attenuation of spin echoes due to incomplete refocusing of coherences as a consequence of incoherent molecular displacements in the diffusion interval of the pulse sequence [0-Fehler! Verweisquelle konnte nicht gefunden werden.]. Attenuation of echoes on these grounds arises in the presence of pulsed or steady gr...

GRASE (gradient- and spin-echo) MR imaging: a new fast clinical imaging technique.

A novel technique of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, which combines gradient-echo and spin-echo (GRASE) technique, accomplishes T2-weighted multisection imaging in drastically reduced imaging time, currently 24 times faster than spin-echo imaging. The GRASE technique maintains contrast mechanisms, high spatial resolution, and image quality of spin-echo imaging and is compatible with clinical w...
